Emanuel Lutheran Church
Join us on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Emanuel Lutheran Church as we observe Bodo Otto Day—held during the church’s 300th anniversary year. Emanuel Lutheran Church has served its community for three centuries and was part of the world Dr. Bodo Otto knew as a Revolutionary War physician and patriot.
Dr. Bodo Otto Association President Charlie Morgan will speak prior to the Sunday service at 9 AM, reflecting on Dr. Otto’s legacy and why his story still matters as we near America’s 250th anniversary.
Emanuel Lutheran Church is located at 366 Cohansey-Friesburg Road, Elmer, NJ

Book Released

James E. Gibson’s powerful biography of Dr. Bodo Otto is now available in Kindle, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon.com.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of the Dr. Bodo Otto Association, this important work is back in print. Gibson’s account brings to life the challenges Dr. Otto faced—smallpox inoculation controversies, scarce supplies, poor soldier care, and political rivalries among medical leaders. By the end, you’ll be grateful for modern medicine—and reminded that medical politics is nothing new.

A must-read for history buffs and medical professionals alike.
